starting things off we have runnin out, a mid-tempo memphis horn-led beauty of a track originally out in 1968. soulbrigada take the original, toughen up the bottom end, add in kicks, claps and percussion and the odd filter, speed things up a tad and lengthen the track getting the most out of mable john s effortless and gargantuan diva-esque vocal delivery. on the flip we have another soulful treat with a killer rare groove cut from 1971. originally recorded by lee sain (and arranged by charles miller) soulbrigada extend the intro, add in drums, samples and effects all adding to a truly infectious groove and vocal that will have you screaming out for more.

cutting his teeth on the uk bar dj circuit with gigs six nights a week, as well as being a member of production duo casio social club, henry greenwood has nurtured an understanding of the vital ingredients required for a killer dance floor groove. from the early days of breaking both the pause buttons on his family stereo system (whilst crafting his first reworks) to spinning alongside derrick carter at londons disco-flavoured club night slide, henry is carving a razor-sharp niche in the ever-evolving re-edits movement.

derek kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. prior to this, with dj equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. his work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, greg wilson, buying derek s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented dj career.

two of the tracks are revisited by label boss corcos, on his techno vest and ennio colaci, both the men behind minimono project. hask aka daniele de rossi has already released on cult electronic music labels like irma and minus habens records ... he is an experienced producer and this is his techno output.

toronto-based duo a digital needle are purveyors of disco, funk, & soul edits, pruned for the dancefloor & subscribers to the mancuso method of deejaying, with a preference for quality sound and selection over long, elaborate mixes et al. they join forces with fellow canadian re-editor/producer cyclist to deliver a killer 4-tracker of the finest disco-funk. the release comes as red coloured vinyl in a full colour sleeve photographed by top photographer matt barnes (who has worked with snoop dogg, dimitri from paris, mike skinner, lily allen), in the vein of a lost disco lp from the 70s and looks amazing. this is the first release on tripped out records and is one hell of a debut.
